Behindthewager is an independent research and comparison publisher covering online casinos, sports betting, games and the operators behind them, for a UK audience.

Why we exist

Search results for casino and betting queries are dominated by pages built to convert clicks, not to explain what's actually going on behind a licence, a bonus term or a withdrawal policy. We start from public, checkable sources — regulator registers, operator terms, provider documentation — and try to show our working, including what we couldn't verify.

Industry background, kept separate from confidential information

Our contributors have professional experience across areas of the iGaming industry, including product, payments, compliance and operations. That experience shapes which questions we think are worth asking. It does not give us — or this site — access to any current employer's confidential systems, customer data or commercially sensitive information, and we do not use any such information here. Team members may choose not to disclose their identities or current employers; industry experience informs our research process, but published facts are what we can support with public evidence, not personal authority.

What "evidence-first" means in practice

• Facts we can verify from a regulator, an operator's own published terms, or a provider's own documentation are marked as such, with a source and a check date.
• Facts we could not verify during a given research pass are marked not verified rather than guessed.
• We do not claim hands-on testing (deposits, withdrawals, live support contact) unless it actually happened.
• Commercial relationships, if and when they exist, do not change what we publish as fact — see our Affiliate Disclosure.
